HOLIDAY HEALTH

The holidays are here!! Target is full of christmas decor, Starbucks already has their christmas cups(who doesn’t love a festive cup?), friendsgiving feasts have started, the craziness has begun. Many may dread the holidays for this means busy scheuldes and unwanted sweets galore. The fear of not only what, but how to eat at all these holiday parties and a break room full of never ending treats is very much present. Here are a couple tips to help you enjoy this holiday season and not be so hard on yourself!

If you’re going to a potluck style party bring something healthy you know you can enjoy eating. Ex. salad, veggie tray, fruit platter, healthy dessert(I have some posted under “Recipes”/Pinterest is great), a nutritious dip for whole wheat crackers and veggies.

Nutritious Dip: Throw black beans, corn, tomatoes, avocado, and olive oil in a bowl-mix and serve as is.

If you’re attending a party where you know there will be no food options for you to eat(maybe you have a food allergy), then eat a little something before. Don’t go hungry and take the risk of a growling stomach or giving into the foods you know your digestive system can’t handle.

Always fill up on veggies! Fill your plate with half salad and veggies, protein, and then a little something fun.

Don’t be scared to eat some sweets. Listen to your body to see if you really have room for it/really want it. If yes then pick the treat you love most and enjoy it until you’re full. Be happy and don’t regret it.

Break room full of all the sugary things? Be sure to really be on top of your meal prep for that week. Make yourself nutritious packed lunches that will leave you satisfied and not still hungry craving sweets. Even pack yourself some dark chocolate to carve those sugar cravings.

Alcohol is typically present at most get-togethers. Pace yourself. Fuel your body with food. Stray from the sugary drinks in order to avoid added sugars/calories and a hangover! Remember red wine contains antioxidants(disease fighters)!

The most important thing is to be eating intuitively. LISTEN to your body. Don’t eat just because it’s there. If you want something sweet then eat it. Pay attention to your hunger cues and have fun! Don’t let food add to your holiday stress and enjoy time with friends and family!
